Effect of Glucose on Plasma Free Fatty Acid and Triglyceride

Abstract
|
|
|
Serial determination of plasma FFA, TG and glucose level was done in healthy Korean students after oral and parenteral glucose administration.
The following results were obtained.
1. Plasma FFA decreased markedly with reciprocal blood glucose elevation reaching lowest level in 30 to 60 minutes in both route.
The decrements were more late in onset, prominent and last longer with oral glucose administration.
2. Blood TG level revealed the tendency of decrease with glucose elevation especially in parenteral route, however the decrement were not significant statistically during the 4 hour period of observation.
3. The significance of temporal elevation of FFA level observed 120 minutes after glucose administration was discussed.
